Resident involvement and accountability

We believe the best way to improve our services is by working in partnership with you.

That's why, we provide a variety of formal and informal volunteering opportunities for you to get more involved with us, help shape services and have your say.

This includes our Resident Services Board, Resident Associations and more.

By involving you, we become accountable, transparent and collaborative in all we do.

We also host an annual Resident conference for involved residents to join us in conversations about our plans and challenges and to learn from resident experiences.

Five reasons to volunteer with us

More than 600 residents have already signed up to help improve our services and support communities, and 87% of our volunteers say they would do it again.

Have your say

Bermondsey resident Veronika Jagrikova recently won an award for getting involved in training sessions on service delivery such as the Leaseholder Forum and more recently, the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.

She said: “I like the fact that L&Q gives us the opportunity to have a say in how these services should be run. I get to talk about my experience as a shared owner and meet residents who rent and see how L&Q supports them.”
Increase your confidence and gain new skills

Paul Moore, from Stepney, retired last year and volunteers in our ‘buddying’ scheme to support new Neighbourhood Champions and Tenant and Resident Association committee members.

He’s organised community fun days and works with other volunteers to look after their beautiful garden.

Paul says: “When I finished work, I needed something to do, and the last year has been great. Incorporating what I used to do at work into the Neighbourhood Champion role was really good for me.”
Get a reference to help you find work

We can offer references to actively involved residents who are looking for work.

One of our Neighbourhood Champions was recently offered a job as an exam invigilator after we gave a reference for their application.

We hope this is the first of many success stories for our volunteers.
Learn about how we work

Resident Louise Batchelor from Bexley, says she enjoys learning more about how L&Q works, which gives her unique insight into how we can improve our services.

Louise, who has won an award for her volunteering work, said: “I got involved because I wanted to get a better understanding and see how I can help.”
Access free learning and training sessions

This opportunity is open to all involved residents.

It allows residents to share good practices with one another, meet residents as well as promote and increase resident responsibility and accountability.

It allows residents to learn from each other to perform better in their roles whether it be a Neighbourhood Champion or a TRA member.

Residents can share their experiences and support each other to overcome any challenges.

One involved resident said: “I learnt a lot from the course, and they put some of the things I mentioned into place.”
